Myrtle Beach - Our Special Place
Why Myrtle Beach, South Carolina? We've spent years
looking for the best place to spend the snow months in
our retirement years. We explored the south from Florida to
Arizona. They are nice but we found them either too
crowded, too expensive or sometimes even too commercial.
We visited and fell in love with Myrtle Beach and have
been returning there each year since 1997.

This site centers around our interactive maps. We found that
getting around Myrtle Beach was fairly easy but
there wasn't a really good map that was easy to use that
gave us all of the info we wanted so we designed our own. Actually
four of them! Though not to scale, they are very
accurate as a guide to help you find your way to some of the places
we have personally checked out for the best values for your money.
How to Avoid the
Myrtle Beach
Traffic
U.S. 501 into town is always congested. For North Myrtle
Beach take 22 off 501 just East of Florence. 22 ends at Hwy
17 on the South end of North Myrtle Beach. For points South
of MB (Surfside Beach, Garden City, Murrells Inlet or
Pawleys Island) take 22 to 31. 31 runs parallel to 17
Bypass; North on 31 goes to US 9 near Little River and
South ends at 544. Then, East on 544 takes you into Surfside
Beach. No stoplights on 31 makes it a real zip! We also
suggest the Robert Grissom Parkway as a road around town
less traveled. It runs from the Airport past the Pelicans
Baseball Stadium and Broadway at the Beach.
